Transmitters
for 2009
New for 2009 is the availability of transmitters on 433/434 MHz. The Scout is now available in 433/434 Turbo configuration which offers better range than the US version, and the new RT 433 will give you better range than any other falcon transmitter available in Europe.
The
lightweight, high power Marshall
Radio transmitters have evolved
both inside and
out for two decades now. You'll
find Marshall transmitters
to be carefully thought
out and meticulously designed
from every angle.
On
the outside, the intricately
machined, laser-engraved casings
reflect
our
constant attention
to detail and finish. While
more costly and difficult to
produce, machining cases
from the toughest aircraft
aluminum alloys gives the most
precise way to achieve the
tight
tolerances we're after and
provides the best protection
for what's inside.
On the inside,
all transmitter designs incorporate
our new, extremely efficient and rock-solid circuitry.
You can count on temperature stable operation, a high-shock
design with an even more powerful yet stable signal in
a transmitter that will last season after season. All other
features matter very little
without reliability first and
foremost.
But what a list
of unique features these reliable
transmitters do have:
the convenient
and popular 'Tap-on/Tap-off' magnetic control switch,
a
real time low-battery indicator and fuel gauge, and extreme
low temperature performance
when battery voltage can drop
down to a trickle
that would kill
other transmitters.
It's no longer necessary
to put your bird at risk using the long 13-inch antennas
of the past. Most Marshall transmitters, whether ordered
in standard 216 or 218 MHz frequencies, are shipped with a short and safe 7 or 9-inch antenna.
The
five designs
detailed
below each have a different
intended use. The "Transmitters
at a Glance" table found
at the bottom of the page highlights
the specifications and comparisons
for each.

RT Plus
The RT Plus is designed around the reliable
1/3N lithium battery which gives it it's unique shape and size.
With its longer battery life and powerful signal, it was developed
to be a primary leg mount for larger shortwings and longwings
(18oz birds and up). The RT+ was the first of a new generation
of transmitters with a short, safe, half-length antenna, yet
still
puts out more power than others still using long ones. It is
also ideal as a secondary (backup) transmitter to the PowerMax
tail
mount.
Features are now found in the RT+ never before available in a
falconry transmitter (see link below).
Each unit is burned-in
and Enviro-tested tested from +150F down to -40F prior to shipping.
Thousands of this newest design are now in the field
worldwide with enthusiastic and reliable results.

PowerMax
Originally developed as the "ideal
tail-mount," this transmitter has a flat, tail-hugging design
with an antenna so short it doesn't extend beyond the deck feathers
of the larger birds. Moreover, it's designed so it can be left
on the bird and simply turned on or off with the tap of a magnet
for daily use.
The new PowerMax is now lower in overall
weight, puts out even more power yet runs even longer on the same
1632 lithium battery! It incorporates a new "fuel-gauge"
type of low battery indicator that uses both a timer and internal
voltage sensor. Accumulated run-time is now approximately 72 hours
(instead of just 30) with another 4-5 days left to search after
the double-beep.
It's particularly ideal for those considering
the BackPack Harness. Birds as small as a Merlin have carried
the PowerMax using the new TrackPack Mount!
Each unit is burned-in for five days
and Enviro-tested tested from +150F down to -40F prior to shipping.

RT Standard
Double the power
of the PowerMax, ther perfect backpack mounted transmitter for the long ranging falcon.
With its 10-day battery life and running
in "Turbo-mode," the RT Standard is the transmitter of choice
for falconers in the Gulf looking for the most range possible.
The standard length antenna (13-inch)
is best used on a backpack mount where it poses little risk.
Can be ordered with a magnetic Tap on/Tap off Switch.
Now available with the "Bullet" Lid
for better aerodynamics, and new "Rapid pulse" option, for
pulses that are twice as fast for quick and easier tracking.

Micro
This tiny transmitter
is the "Ideal
Tail Mount" for all sized birds. It weighs only 3.5 grams
with the battery yet is a high-power, long range
design putting 1/3 the weight on a single tail feather.
Unlike other transmitters using very
small batteries, the new Micro
doesn't fade out or die in low temperature situations.
It is
perfect for small specialty birds: Merlins, sharp-shinned hawks
and other
extremely small raptors. You can order it with a 'fine' or
a 'medium' gauge antenna, depending on intended use.
The Micro also contains the magnetic
'tap on/tap off' switch, a half-length 7-inch antenna with improved
power and efficiency over the old Micro. Each unit is burned in
for five days and Enviro-tested tested from +150F down to -40F
prior to shipping.
NOTE:
An all-new Owner's Manual is now on-line in the Manuals Library
under the Support Heading.

"I wanted to let you know that
I used my RT+, can't remember, as a hack transmitter
this summer for my female goshawk that I pulled from
a nest here in NM. I imprinted her and when she branched I
put
her
in a cottonwood on my property. She was out every day for 27
days, spending her nights indoors. The transmitter functioned
perfectly on one battery, she always took very long baths in
the afternoons - a habit which wreaked havoc with two of my
other non-Marshall transmitters. Anyway, just wanted to thank
you for a superior product."
Paul Domski, New Mexico, USA

WARRANTY
Marshall
Radio Telemetry warrants its transmitters to be free of defects
of workmanship and materials for one (1) to three (3) years,
as shown above, from the date of purchase. Our Warranty is
to the original owner.
If your
Marshall transmitter is defective, return it to Marshall
Radio or one of its authorized Distributors and we will repair
or replace it free of charge. However, we will not be responsible
for damage from misuse or for normal wear incurred from regular
use. Under no circumstances will Marshall Radio be responsible
for damages or loss beyond the value of the transmiiter itself,
including the loss of a bird or lost time. The complete unit
must be returned, transportation prepaid, to an authorized
Marshall Radio Service Center.
WARNING:
It is in the nature of any radio frequency transmission device,
including transmitters
used in falconry, that signal propagation (range of signal
transmission) can be greatly reduced if the transmitter
or antenna is touching or lying on the ground. Marshall Radio,
and all of our retail outlets around the world, strongly recommend
that you use either a Backpack, tail mount, or neck
mount (#16 rubber band only)
for one transmitter, and use a second transmitter mounted on
an alternate location such as the neck, tail, leg or backpack.
TWO TRANSMITTERS ARE BEST FOR ALL OF THE LARGE TIERCELS AND
FALCONS. If you use only one transmitter, please consider mounting
it only on the neck, back (via backpack), or tail, where the
probability for good signal propagation is greatest when your
hawk is on or near the ground.
